Living on a boat you want your drinks to maintain temperature and the best way we've found to do that is by using vacuum insulated cups. Choose something mom will love, like leak-proof wine tumblers, coffee cups or 22oz travel mug with handle. Personally I use all three and love the colourful options!

2. DJI Osmo Action 4 Camera | $299

If your mom loves to capture the action then an DJIOsmo Action Camera might be more her speed.

Personally I really like this style of shoe for the boat because they're easy to slip on and off, and it doesn't matter if they get wet. The classic Feather slide is extra squishy, with a molded footbed that'll keep mom comfortable as she's doing things around the boat.

7. Sea to Summit Dry Bag | $23

Having a good dry bag is always a good thing around a boat, and our go-to brand for years has been Sea to Summit.

These ones from Demmex are made in Turkey of certified 100% organic cotton and dye. They're prewashed so won't shrink, and are quick drying and compact. I also use mine as a sarong or wrap when I'm not using it to dry off.

From etched glasses, carved chopping boards, embroidered clothing and customised homewares, there are so many different options out there you're bound to find something she'd enjoy getting for Mother's Day!

14. Choose the perfect cookbook

If your mom loves cooking and trying new cuisines then a cookbook might be the way to go.

You could chose something based around the cuisine of her favourite boating destination (I treasure the Trinidadian cookbook I was given!) or a book specifically related to cooking on boats. If your mom cruises internationally, an electronic cookbook might be the best way to go, especially if she's away on Mother's Day.

15. Virtual classes for a new experience

Give the gift of learning something new with an online virtual class.

It could be a cooking class, art class, wellbeing seminar or a class to help her learn something new. The benefit of virtual classes is it's something that mom can enjoy from the comfort of her boat. Sites like Skillshare and Masterclass are a good starting point.

16. A voucher for a local business

It doesn't matter where your mom is on Mother's Day, you can always buy her a voucher for a local business. It could be for a massage, boutique, chandlery, online store, local cooking class or even a dinner to save her fom cooking. When we were in Gibraltar for Christmas I was gifted a massage at a local business from someone back home, and it was a heavenly escape from the boat work we were doing at the time.
