Galley Tap Upgrade
The kitchen faucet that came with our Leopard 45 catamaran was far too low to meet our needs so we decided to change it out for a taller tap. We discovered that the hole in our bench was a relatively standard size making swapping out the tap for something new relatively easy. We ultimately decided on the American Standard Southport kitchen tap because of its superior quality, appearance, and functionality.
The new tap fit perfectly into the original hole and to connect the American plumbing fittings to our British Standard Plumbing (BSP) fittings, we only needed a few adaptors which were available at the local chandlery. For the installation, we also needed some plumbing tape and food-grade silicone grease. In order to avoid interference with the back of the refrigerator unit, we replaced the faucet weight with a denser, smaller model.
